I would like to cordially invite you to attend EMU's inaugural Wind Conducting Symposium for Music Educators on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Alexander Music Building on the campus of Eastern Michigan University. Join us in a supportive environment as we explore technical and pedagogical approaches to conducting, offer practical strategies for daily rehearsals, and address issues of communication and motivation that will enhance and inspire your teaching and improve your ensemble's performance.
This all-day workshop will include morning and afternoon conducting sessions with the EMU Wind Symphony and Symphonic Band, as well as a special presentation by our guest clinician, Mr. Richard Floyd. Presently in his 46th year of active involvement as a conductor, music educator and administrator, Dick Floyd has enjoyed a distinguished career at virtually every level of wind band performance from beginning band programs through high school and university wind ensembles as well as adult community bands. We are thrilled to welcome him in this, our inaugural year.
