ICS Events Calendar Subscription

ICSThe Department of Music and Dance is pleased to now offer the ability to electronically subscribe to our events calendar. Calendar data may be viewed on any computer software, web, or mobile application which supports the iCalendar (Internet Calendaring and Scheduling Core Object Specification - RFC 2445) file format.

Examples include:

 

Apple iCal

  1. Select "Subscribe" from the Calendar menu.
  2. Type or paste the following URL: http://www.emich.edu/music/events/ics/
  3. Click "Subscribe".
  4. Give the calendar a name, description, and color of your choosing. Also, select the auto-refresh rate that you would prefer. "Every day" is the recommended setting. Please refrain from selecting a refresh rate higher than that, as it could potentially result in a high load demand on the web and database server.
  5. Click "OK".

Apple iPhone

  1. iPhone1Go to the settings menu.
  2. Select "Mail, Contacts, Calendars".
  3. iPhone2Select "Add Account".
  4. iPhone3Select "Other".
  5. iPhone4Select "Add Subscribed Calendar".
  6. iPhone5Enter http://www.emich.edu/music/events/ics/ as the server, and select "next".
  7. iPhone6Select "Save".

 

 

GoogleCalendarGoogle Calendar

  1. Click the "Add" button on the left side of the screen under "My Calendars".
  2. Select "Add by URL".
  3. Type the following URL into the "Public Calendar Address" box: http://www.emich.edu/music/events/ics/
  4. Click "OK".

 

 

Windows Live (Hotmail)

  1. On the calendar page, select "Subscribe" from the links at the top of the page.
  2. Select "Subscribe to a public calendar" and enter http://www.emich.edu/music/events/ics/ as the URL. Enter a name and color of your choosing.
  3. Click "Subscribe to Calendar".

Zimbra Collaboration Suite

  1. Click on the calendar tab.
  2. Click the "New Calendar" button.
  3. Assign a name/color and click "Synchronize appointments from remote calendar".
  4. Enter http://www.emich.edu/music/events/ics/ as the URL.
  5. Click "OK".

Please note: Zimbra does not automatically refresh the calendar data. In order to ensure that you have the most recent information (new events, changes in time, cancellations, etc.) when viewing the calendar, be sure to right-click on the calendar name in the list of calendars, and select reload to update any changes that may have occurred.
