Cellist Kate Blaha completed her Master’s in Music degree at New York University in the Winter of 2012, under the tutelage of Marion Feldman. Along with her studies Kate was employed as Adjunct Faculty member at NYU, teaching cello lessons. During her studies at NYU, Kate played in the NYU Symphony Orchestra, the One World Symphony in Brooklyn, NY and the NYU Contemporary Music Ensemble. At NYU, Kate studied chamber music with Ann Marie Mcdermott, Shmuel Katz, Dov Scheindlin and Stephanie Baer.
Since moving back to Michigan, Kate has performed in a variety of concerts and gigs, including a guest lecture recital at Eastern Michigan University in February of 2012. Kate performs across a diverse set of genres from solo cello repertoire to chamber music, and Baroque to Contemporary music. She has also participated in recording and performing gigs for folk, pop, and film score music.
Kate received her Bachelor of Music degree at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI. She was active in the EMU Orchestra, where she sat principal for four years, and performed in the Collegium Musicum ensemble. During this time, Kate maintained a private studio and taught cello lessons. She has participated in many summer festivals including the Daniel Heifitz Institute, the Superior String Alliance, and the NYU Steinhardt Intensive String Quartet Program. Kate has studied with Jane Katsuyama, Natalia Khoma, Diane L. Winder, and Marion Feldman.
