Woody Chenoweth

Saxophone

 

Woody Chenoweth is a versatile musician and educator, teaching and performing in numerous styles throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area. He is currently in his third year of Doctoral studies in Saxophone Performance at Arizona State University, where he has served as Teaching Assistant for the ASU Saxophone Studio from 2010-2012. He is also actively engaged in jazz studies with Professors Michael Kocour, Bryon Ruth, and Dom Moio. At Arizona State University, Woody is an active performer and participates in many of the top performance ensembles including the ASU Concert Jazz Band and Pulsar Saxophone Quartet. He is also director and a founding member of the ASU SuperSax ensemble. Mr. Chenoweth is no stranger to national saxophone events having performed as a soloist and with chamber ensembles at North American Saxophone Alliance conferences and World Saxophone Congress XIII in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

His experiences on the international stage include performances at World Saxophone Congress XIV in Ljubljana, Slovenia and World Saxophone Congress XV in Bangkok, Thailand. Mr. Chenoweth’s list of awards and achievements include winning the Central Michigan University Concerto/Aria Competition, which allowed him to perform Paule Maurice’s Tableaux de Provence with the Central Michigan Symphony Orchestra. Woody has also served on the faculty at both Paradise Valley and Chandler Gilbert Community Colleges since 2008. Woody is pleased to announce that he will be joining the Music and Dance faculty at Eastern Michigan University in the fall of 2012.
