Dr. James Wagner

Organ / Harpsichord

James Wagner completed his DMA degree in Organ Performance/Church Music from the University of Michigan in 2005. He has earned a Master of Arts degree in Organ Performance and Music Theory/Literature from EMU. His studies in organ have been with Marilyn Mason, Pamela Ruiter-Feenstra, and Mary Ida Yost; studies in composition with Daniel Eller, Anthony Iannaccone, and James Aikman; and studies in harpsichord with Gregory Hand and Pamela Ruiter-Feenstra.

Dr. Wagner is a prolific composer whose works include the opera Anastasia, Fanfare and Overture to Life for wind band, Transitions for string quartet and organ, and In Paradisum: Ten Meditations on the Entrance into Eternity for choir, soloists, organ, and two saxophones.

Dr. Wagner is the Director of Music and Organist at First Congregational Church of Wayne and serves as Dean for the Ann Arbor Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.
