Ernest Brandon, an associate professor, teaches private voice, vocal diction, and directs the Women's Chorus. He received the Bachelor of Music Education degree from North Central College, the Master of Music degree from Northwestern University, and 60 credit hours in vocal and choral music beyond the master's degree from the University of Illinois.
Having sung several leading operatic roles as a tenor and performed as soloist in many oratorio productions, his primary professional focus is nevertheless on teaching, and views his occupation not so much as a challenge, but as a pleasure. He finds the new acquaintance of any eager and talented singer to be invigorating and is gratified by the success of his students. Also, under his direction, the Women's Chorus has developed into an ensemble of high quality and has become a meaningful part of the vocal experience at EMU.
