Denise Root Pierce has performed throughout the United States, Japan, China, Europe and in South America. She is Principal Hornist with Keith Brion and his New Sousa Band and has recently been performing regularly with the Windsor Symphony Orchestra in Ontario, Canada, as well as with the Windsor Symphony Brass and Woodwind Quintets. She is a former member of the Bogotá Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lansing (MI) Symphony and the Kalamazoo (MI) Symphony. In addition, she has performed with the Ann Arbor (MI) Symphony, Flint (MI) Symphony, Tucson (AZ) Symphony, Albany (NY) Symphony, and the Monterrey, Mexico Symphony Orchestra. A devoted chamber musician, she has performed with numerous wind and brass quintets, including the Brass Ring, a distinguished quintet based in Connecticut. She has held horn teaching positions at the University of Connecticut, the Crane School of Music at the State University of New York in Potsdam, Albion College, Kalamazoo College and Alma College.
Ms. Root Pierce earned the Artist Diploma from Yale University and the Master of Music degree from Michigan State University. She is a music theory faculty member at Eastern Michigan University and maintains an active performing schedule.
