Minor in Musical Theatre

The musical theatre minor educates students in communication and performance skills related to theatre arts and dramatic productions.

Students wishing to minor in Musical Theatre are required to complete an application with the Department of Communications, Media and Theatre Arts AND with the Department of Music and Dance. The CMTA application is required to secure an audition time at the Theatre Auditions. The Music and Dance application is required to attend a Music Audition Date for voice assessment (for placement into a voice class OR an applied voice studio) and music theory assessment (required for enrollment).

Dec. 5, 2009 - EMU Theatre Scholarship Auditions
Prospective students present monologues and/or songs for performers, and portfolios for Designers or Stage Managers to compete for Scholarships and Service Awards.


Performance opportunities

Musical Theatre productions are open by audition to all EMU students.

Phil Simmons holds a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from the University of Georgia. He also holds a B.A. in Theatre and a B.A. in English from Oklahoma State University.
