Flute Choir and Ensembles

The Eastern Michigan University Flute Choir at the University Musical Society Ford Honors Tribute to James Galway, May 2008
The nationally recognized Eastern Michigan University Flute Choir is an integral part of the flute studio at Eastern Michigan University. Open to all flute majors and non-majors by audition, the flute choir performs in a variety of venues and performs music from the past to the present. In 2000 the EMU Flute Choir was selected to perform at the National Flute Association Convention in Columbus, Ohio where it premiered a new composition by internationally acclaimed composer, Christopher Caliendo. To listen to the EMU Flute Choir, please go to www.christophercaliendo.com and click on Catalog/Tango/La Milonga and La Primavera.
The members of the EMU Flute Choir have the opportunity to play in small ensembles such as duets, trios, quartets, and quintets in addition to flute choir. To further ensemble playing skills, these ensembles rehearse on their own as a group and are coached by the director. The small ensembles rehearse at mutually agreed upon times. The flute choir has access to alto and bass flutes that are an important part of the flute choir. To find our more about the EMU Flute Choir and Ensembles, please contact Dr. Stone.
