EMU offers the following graduate degree programs in music:
Private composition lessons, supportive courses and opportunities for the performance of your work are all part of this curriculum that prepares you for a career as a professional composer. Residencies with distinguished composers, as part of the bi-annual EMU Music Now Festival, will complement your studies.
Are you a music professional seeking to teach general, vocal or instrumental music in public or private schools or move toward a course of doctoral studies? Enhance your pedagogic and musical skills, and learn about the most current research perspectives and topical issues in music education in this program.
The Master of Music in Performance program can support your plan for solo or ensemble performance, college teaching, private lesson instructing and/or continuing graduate studies toward a doctoral degree.
If you want to teach piano or pursue advanced studies, this program can help you develop an understanding of the learning process and its application to teaching and performing.
*Note: EMU Graduate School policy states that a graduate course may be repeated once if the grade was a B- or lower. The second grade is used in the GPA calculation. Both grades will appear on the transcript. To learn more about graduate school policies visit the Graduate School website.
