October 27-October 29, 2005

NACRA will hold its 2005 meeting at the Sea Crest Oceanfront Resort & Conference Center in North Falmouth, Massachusetts (Cape Cod), from  Thursday, October 27 through Saturday, October 29, 2005.

NACRA is a collaborative organization of approximately 450 case writers and teachers, mostly in the business disciplines, who support each other’s research and writing efforts.  Our members are from all over the world, teach at many types of universities and offer expertise in various disciplines.

Meeting Format

NACRA’s annual conference is held in the fall as an opportunity for case writers and teachers to develop and maintain a network of contacts, an invaluable source of ideas and support for the case method. The centerpiece of the conference is the case roundtable discussions, which take place on Friday and Saturday mornings. In the afternoons, paper and symposia sessions are presented. For newcomers to NACRA, there is a half-day workshop on Friday morning and the opportunity for feedback on case embryos-case ideas needing development. The conference begins Thursday evening with an opening session and reception, includes a Friday evening dinner that highlights the locale, and concludes with an awards luncheon on Saturday and preview of the next year’s conference. The submission deadline is Monday, June 13, 2005.  Click here for the Call for Papers and other submissions instructions and forms.

New in 2005

Paper and symposia proposals are invited for two new tracks: “Case Research for Theory Building and Testing” and “Teaching with Cases.”  Click here for suggested topics.

A new award is available this year for the best case in corporate governance in any discipline as submitted and presented. A cash award is sponsored by The Directors College (Canada). Awards are also available for the best case in business ethics, health care, education, and for cases submitted by newcomers, student authors, and authors outside of North America. Click here for details on these awards.

Meeting Site

The Seacrest Oceanfront Resort & Conference Center is located directly on Old Silver Beach, one of Cape Cod’s most beautiful white sand beaches. In late October we will enjoy the informal ambiance of one of New England’s favorite vacation retreats without the crowds of the busy summer tourist season. The facility is located in North Falmouth, Massachusetts, approximately 2 hours from Boston’s Logan Airport and 1.5 hours from the TF Green Airport in Providence, Rhode Island. Airport shuttle service is available through Cape Destinations, a private contractor. Please reserve early so that riders can be grouped to lower the fares. Car rental is recommended if you plan to tour the area because public transportation is very limited.
