As part of an NCAA self-study of the Eastern Michigan University Department of Athletics, the members of the Governance and Commitment to Rules Compliance Subcommittee invite anyone who is interested to open community forums to provide feedback on the department's efforts and effectiveness in the area of governance and rules compliance.

Open forums are scheduled for the following dates:

September 10, 2002

October 1, 2002

Specifically, this subcommittee is studying and would like feedback on the following areas:

Athletics Program Mission: its consistency with the institutional mission, its commitment to the well-being of and educational objectives for the student-athletes, and its consistency with the actual practices of the department.

Institutional Control: the level of oversight by the institution's governing board, chief executive officer and other appropriate campus constituencies.

Rules Compliance: a review of all systems, policies, and procedures in place to ensure department compliance to NCAA conference rules and institutional rules.
