Minutes of Meeting – Monday, July 22, 2002 - 111 Welch Hall
Present: John Dugger, Chris Shell, Wendy Gunter, Liz Broughton, Jeff Armstrong, John Novak
1. Introductions and Overview of subcommittee’s activity for new member, Wendy Gunter, Assistant Athletics Director – Academics
2. Review of latest draft of subcommittee report
a. Section 2.1.3B – Lynette Findley
Action: John Dugger to request update on progress from Lynette
- Suggested changes to Level 1 and Level 2 requirements for special admits
- Level 1: change language from, “letter of recommendation is requested,” to, “required,” and change the source of the letter to, “individual knowledgeable about academic performance of PSA.”
- Level 1: also, require a student statement
- Level 2: Similarly, “require two letters of recommendation from, “individuals knowledgeable about academic performance of PSA.”
- Level 2: also, require a student statement
- Additional clarification of level 1 and level 2 definitions needed
3. Latest graduation rate survey report is available (i.e. 1995 cohort)
Action: John Novak will investigate whether an electronic copy is available for the subcommittee’s report.
4. John Novak gave a summary of the analysis done on the six-year graduation rates
Action: John N. will wrap up comparative analysis and provide explanation for demographic subgroups.
5. Organizational chart of SASS needed
Action: Wendy will update and provide electronic copy for the report
6. Explanation of MAC grade point average requirements confusing in appendix
Action: Wendy will inquire about a clarification
7. Reviewed minutes from June 20, 2002 meeting
Action: Approved
