Minor in Nonprofit Administration

The minor in Nonprofit Administration has been designed to fulfill all 17 competencies of National Leadership Alliance (formerly American Humanics) program. It is administered by the Department of Political Science, the Public Administration program.

It will total 24 credit hours (21 +3 for internship). The internship is required for all students and it is designed to allow students to practice the skills and knowledge gained into the classroom.

Internship (3hours)

For the NPO minor students, the internship will be at least 180 hours. The Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (formerly American Humanics) students will have a do more grounded internship, respectively 300 hours at a 501(c) 3 nonprofit.

This may be waived with substantial experience, such as extensive work experience in the nonprofit sector.

Additional Requirements

To be completed in addition to the Minor, if you wish to receive the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (formerly American Humanics) nationally recognized Certification:

  • Attend Nonprofit Leadership Alliance Management Institute
  • Active NLA/NLA Student Association Participation
  • Interview with Campus Director
