Welcome to the School of Nursing!

In 2013, the School of Nursing at Eastern Michigan University will celebrate its 40th year creating exceptional nurses for the current and future health care arena. As noted in our EMU tagline, “Education First,” EMU School of Nursing faculty excel in teaching excellence, conduct original and applied research and provide service to the university, local, state, national and international communities. Our graduates are making differences all over the country and the world. As the recently appointed Interim Director of the School of Nursing, I am excited to continue the EMU legacy of producing excellent nurses!
This past Spring, the EMU School of Nursing underwent a rigorous reaccreditation process conducted by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The evaluation included an extensive self-study with feedback from students, faculty/staff/administrators, graduates and community partners. A comprehensive site visit was also conducted by four site visitors over three days. In October, 2012, the CCNE Board of Commissioners renewed accreditation to EMU SON’s baccalaureate and master’s degree programs for another 10 years, extending to December 31, 2022.
Join us as we celebrate our continued success and venture into the future!
