Long-term volunteer with Health Volunteers Overseas, Nursing Overseas - Uganda July-December, 2002

Volunteer each summer at Lutheran Church Camp as manager of health center and provider of health services for children and staff during summer camp season

Serve as a certified educator for the STAR Program (Straight Talk About Risks). The STAR Program is an antiviolence program, which includes an age-specific curriculum for children ranging from preschool through high school. The curriculum was developed by the Center for Handgun Control, Washington, D.C.

Participated as a member of an international expedition for health care professionals and traveled to the Amazon rainforest and Machu Picchu in Peru to explore culture, natural health and traditional healing

Volunteer and coordinate children's health fairs, health screenings and health teaching in a variety of community settings including schools, health care agencies and other children's service organizations

Communication

Provided consultation and addressed professional groups on topics such as Developing Skills as a Test Item Writer, Physical Assessment of the School-Age Child, Successful Test-Taking Skills and Communicable Diseases and Infection Control for Day Care Workers.
