Clinical Nurse Specialist

The role of clinical nurse specialist (CNS) in adult health nursing is carried out in many settings, such as acute care hospitals, long term care facilities, ambulatory centers, home health care, and community hospitals. The preparation to become a clinical nurse specialist consists of the core courses (24 credit hours) and advanced adult health CNS courses (16 credit hours). After graduation, the nurse is encouraged to apply and take the certification examination for CNS in adult health offered by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
