1. What is the application deadline?

May 15th of each year for the pre-licensure BSN program. No late applications are accepted.

2. What are the admission requirements?

Admission requirements are listed on the web site and include briefly: admission to EMU, minimum of a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for 8 pre-requisite courses, and a TOEFL score of 500 or higher for ESL applicants.

3. Why wasn’t I admitted to the nursing program?

For a number of years, the School of Nursing has received more applicants than can be admitted each fall. Unfortunately, the program is limited to admitting 80 students each fall.

4. How can I improve my chances of getting admitted?

The best approach to improving the chance of admission is to achieve high grades in the 8 pre-requisite courses, because these grades are considered for admission. The overall GPA is not considered for admission.

5. I have always wanted to be a nurse, but was not admitted to EMU's program. What can I do?

There are several options for those who are not admitted. Application to other nursing programs is always a possibility, especially if your GPA is above a 3.0. Obtaining a degree in another related field is a second option, after which you may consider applying to a second-degree nursing program. A third option is to apply to a practical nurse program.
