Students' Frequently Asked Questions:

Can I get an additional program added to the list?

Ask your department head, advisor, or admissions office to contact Christine Deacons at aa_nwlb@emich.edu and ask that the major be submitted for approval.

How long does it take for programs to be approved?

It takes up to twenty business days for a program to be approved for NWLB.

How are the classes paid for?

This is handled through your local Michigan Works! office. Normally the funds are given out on a debit card that the student can use for tuition.

Can I get additional financial aid?

This will depend on your financial needs. You should still fill out a FAFSA and go through the normal process for obtaining financial aid.

Does Michigan Works! guarantee me a job when I finish?

No.

Are there GPA and/or credit requirements to maintain Michigan Works! funding?

You will need to work with your Michigan Works! counselor for any additional requirements to maintain funding. EMU does not make those decisions.
