The OIS is happy to support you in reaching your educational, career, and personal goals while at Eastern Michigan University. If you have questions, concerns, or problems during your program of study, the OIS office is here to assist! Here are your advising options:
- Walk-in advising (Starting September 12, 2011)
Walk-in advising is available every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. Walk-in hours are for students who have short 15-minute questions. No appointment is needed for walk-ins. CPT, OPT and Change of Status applications will not be handled during walk-ins hours.

Please make an appointment using our online system at http://www.securedata-trans9.com/ap/easternmichiganuniversity/index.php?page=10. If you are a first-time visitor to our online appointment system, you need to create an account using the “registration” button. If you have already created an account, just enter your E number and make an appointment with an advisor using the “Appointment Locator” function. It is easy and quick to make an appointment, and available anytime you need!
Reasons you do not need to see an advisor:
1) To pick up or drop off an OIS form. Forms are available online or at the OIS front desk.
2) For general questions about immigration, EMU offices and support, and new student arrival matters like getting a driver’s license and registering for classes. For general questions, you are welcome to talk to an OIS front desk student staff member. Be sure to also visit the OIS resource area and pick up information concerning many topics such as immigration, academic and career support, traveling and things to do.
3) For general information regarding CPT, OPT, H-1B, and on-campus employment. Please come to an OIS seminar on these special topics. The seminars will teach you about employment regulations and how to apply for work authorization. Please see the seminar schedule on the right column for information on the dates and times of all the OIS seminars.
