Here are your advising options:

Walk-in advising

Walk-in advising is available every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the fall and winter semesters only.
Walk-in hours are for students who have short 5-minute questions. No appointment is needed for walk-ins.
CPT, OPT and Change of Status applications will not be handled during walk-ins hours.

Please make an appointment using our online system at

If you are a first-time visitor to our online appointment system, you need to create an account using the "registration" button.
If you have already created an account, just enter your E number and make an appointment with an advisor using the "Appointment Locator" function. It is easy and quick to make an appointment, and available anytime you need!

Things that do NOT require an appointment

• Update I-20 for travel
• Obtaining a Concurrent Enrollment Letter
• Completing On-campus Employment paperwork
• Obtaining or submitting OIS forms. Forms are available online or at the OIS front desk.
• Questions about general immigration matters and new student arrival matters
• Obtaining a driver's license
• Registering for classes
• Obtaining a Certificate of Enrollment - see Service EMU or Records and Registration for assistance
• Obtaining an Invitation Letter to invite relatives to visit you - follow the instructions here.
• Changing your adress - update address, phone and email information in your my.emich account
• Genaral information regarding CPT, OPT, H-1B, and on-campus employment - Please come to an OIS seminar!
  The seminars will teach you about employment regulations and how to apply for work authorization. Please see the seminar schedule on the right column for information on dates and times of all OIS seminars.
