Obtain and review your I-20 or DS-2019

Make sure the following items are correct: name, date of birth, country of birth, country of citizenship, major, degree level, English language proficiency (on I-20 only) and finances.Contact International Admissions (international.admissions@emich.edu) if there are any issues with your I-20 or DS-2019.

Sign up for UNITED International Student Orientation

www.emich.edu/ois/orientation Attendance is mandatory.

Sign up for Immigration Check-in

www.emich.edu/ois/checkin This will allow OIS to register you in the U.S. immigration system. Attendance is mandatory.

Housing

  •   Information about living on campus and off campus is at www.emich.edu/ois/housing. On campus housing fills up quickly!
  •   No temporary housing is available on campus. You must stay in a hotel if you do not have housing arrangements when you arrive.
  • Register for Classes

    For more information about classes and who to contact, visit www.emich.edu/ois/classes.  Click on your degree level for information about registration.

    Health insurance and vaccines

  •   You will automatically receive Eastern Michigan University Health Insurance when  you register for classes. More information is available at www.emich.edu/ois/insurance.
  •   Recommended vaccines can be found at www.emich.edu/ois/insurance.
  •   If you have questions, please contact the Snow Health Center at health_service@emich.edu.
  • Pay tuition fees

    You will get your first eBill after you register for classes. More information can be found at www.emich.edu/ois/financial.  

     

     

     

    Travelling to EMU

    Have the proper immigration

    documents with you

    (EMU I-20 or DS-2019, passport, visa, I-901 SEVIS receipt, admission letter). More information is available at www.emich.edu/ois/flightarrangements.

    Transportation from the airport to campus

    Have the name and address of the place where you will be staying. More information about taxis can be found at www.emich.edu/ois/flightarrangements.

    Student Orientation

    Registration and details can be found at www.emich.edu/ois/orientation. Attendance is mandatory.

    Registration is at www.emich.edu/ois/checkin. Bring your documents and New Student Information Sheet. This will allow OIS to register you in the U.S. immigration system. If you do not attend, you are at risk of your immigration record being terminated and returning home.
