There are many advisors at EMU to help you register for classes. Please contact Sherry Spencer (sherry.spencer@emich.edu; 734-487-0400) at the University Advising and Career Development Center (UACDC) for assistance in class registration (UACDC) for your first semester. UACDC will help you better understand the general education classes necessary for your degree. After your first semester, you will meet with advisors in your major. For other UACDC information, please see www.emich.edu/uacdc. If you are an "English as a Second Language" student, please contact Kim Anderson (kwate@emich.edu) for assistance, rather than UACDC. You are encouraged to meet with your academic advisors regularly throughout your study here at EMU to ensure the completion of your degree program requirements.Click here for the Student Guide to Registration.
Contact your departmental advisor. The Graduate Recommendation Form was included with your Letter of Admission. This form has the contact information for your departmental advisor. Your advisor will help you register for your first semester of classes and help plan your future semesters. If you are an English as a Second Language student please contact Kim Anderson (kwate@emich.edu) for assistance. Click here for the Student Guide to Registration.
ESL Conditional Admission is based on your TOEFL, MELAB, or IELTS score. If you have ESL Conditional Admission you must take ESL classes to improve your English and speak with an ESL Advisor before registering for your classes. You can reach the ESL Office at esl@emich.edu or 734-487-0338. Please visit: http://www.emich.edu/worldlanguages/esl/program.htm
F-1 or J-1 visa students taking English as a Second Language Course:
Most classes are offered in the Fall and Winter semesters. Fewer classes are offered during the summer semester. There are printed Class Schedule Books available that list course times, descriptions, and prerequisites. Class Schedule Books are also available online at: www.emich.edu/registrar/registration_info/guides_books
Please speak with your academic advisor or visit: http://catalog.emich.edu/index.php.
Before you can take some courses, it is required that you have completed another one or more specific courses beforehand. The Course Schedule Book lists prerequisites next to each course. You cannot register for a class if you have not met the prerequisites.
Most courses and programs are held on main campus. However, sometimes a course is offered at a different location. When you are signing up for classes, make sure each one is located on Main Campus. If you do decide to take a class off campus, you are responsible for your own transportation.
If you have a documented disability, EMU can accommodate you. Please contact the Students with Disabilities Office to make an appointment with a Disability Specialist. You can reach the office at http://www.emich.edu/disabilities/ or 734-487-2470.
