There are many advisors at EMU to help you register for classes. Please contact Sherry Spencer (sherry.spencer@emich.edu; 734-487-0400) at the University Advising and Career Development Center (UACDC) for assistance in class registration (UACDC). UACDC will help you better understand the general eudaction classes necessary for your degree. For other UACDC information, please see www.emich.edu/uacdc. If you are an "English as a Second Language" student, please contact Kim Anderson (kwate@emich.edu) for assistance, rather than UACDC. Contact your departmental advisor. The Graduate Recommendation Form was included with your Letter of Admission. This form has the contact information for your departmental advisor. Your advisor will help you register for your first semester of classes and help plan your future semesters. ESL Conditional Admission is based on your TOEFL, MELAB, or IELTS score. If you have ESL Conditional Admission you must take ESL classes to improve your English and speak with an ESL Advisor before registering for your classes. Most classes are offered in the Fall and Winter semesters. Fewer classes are offered during the summer semester. There are printed Class Schedule Books available that list course times, descriptions, and prerequisites. Class Schedule Books are also available online at: www.emich.edu/registrar/registration_info/guides_books

Before you can take some courses, it is required that you have completed another one or more specific courses beforehand. The Course Schedule Book lists prerequisites next to each course. You cannot register for a class if you have not met the prerequisites.
Most courses and programs are held on main campus. However, sometimes a course is offered at a different location. When you are signing up for classes, make sure each one is located on Main Campus. If you do decide to take a class off campus, you are responsible for your own transportation.
