OIS Initial Visit

All new international students are required to have an initial visit with our office. During this visit you will complete information forms, have your immigration documents reviewed and updated, and learn important information regarding immigration regulations, EMU policies and student life. Most students with F and J immigration status will attend a group initial visit session. Other students (H, E, K, L, A, PR etc.) will meet with an advisor.

You can call to book your initial visit anytime, but before attending an initial visit, please be sure to register for classes and have a local address!

Initial Visits are held frequently:

• If you hold an F1 or J1 visa, please call our office to register 1(734)487-3116
• Please arrive promptly and plan to be here approximately 2 ½ - 3 hours.
• If you hold any other visa type, please Schedule an Appointment with Esther Gunel, using the on-line appointment scheduling feature of our website.
  

You must bring the following documents with you to the initial visit:

• EMU I-20
• I-94
• Passport/Visa
• Admission Letter
• Graduate Recommendation Form (if a graduate student)
• Copy of class schedule
• If you've attended another US school - you must bring ALL I-20's you have
• Embassy or Governmental sponsored students only - Financial Guarantee
