The Greyhound bus line (http://www.greyhound.com/) connects you with many different cities and states across the United States. You can easily travel to places such as Chicago, New York, Grand Rapids, St. Louis, and other cities. The website has all the stations you can travel to within the United States as well as schedules and fares. The nearest stations to EMU are in Ann Arbor (116 W Huron St, Ann Arbor) as well as Detroit (1001 Howard St, Detroit).
MegaBus (http://us.megabus.com/) is a new bus company that services Ann Arbor with direct trips to Chicago. They provide low cost, daily service to Chicago that can cost as low as $1 (really!) but are typically under $10 each way. The closest station is in Ann Arbor on State St, just north of Eisenhower Parkway.
The Amtrak train lines (www.amtrak.com) can also provide rail transportation within the United States to various cities. Amtrak has been the primary source for passenger rail transportation and is a reliable way to travel if you do not want to fly or drive. Their website has locations, schedules and fares. The closest stations are in Ann Arbor (325 Depot Street) and Detroit (11 West Baltimore Avenue).
