Welcome to your new home! At check-in, you will receive your student packet for First Four, including your new EMU backpack, student planner, and wristband to be worn at all meals throughout the weekend.
9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Commuter Student/Family Check-In – Student Center
Officially check-in for the First Four program and pick up your new student materials. After checking in, join us for the Family Picnic in University Park!
9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Eagle OneCard Office Open – Eastern Eateries
Get your questions answered about the Eagle OneCard and take your ID photo if you have not yet done so.
9 a.m. – 2 p.m. University Health Services Meet and Greet and Vaccine Clinic – Snow Health Center (Contact University Health Services at 734.487.1122 for details)
9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Parking Hang Tag Sales – Parking Office (1200 Oakwood, Ypsilanti MI)
Have you purchased a parking hang tag for the Fall 2016 Semester? Whether you are a commuter or resident, stop by and pick up yours in order to park your car on campus.
9 a.m. – 7 p.m. First Four Help Center Open – Student Center Info Desk, 2nd Floor
10 – 11 a.m. Commuter Student/Family Session – Student Center Ballroom
There is more to your student experience at EMU than driving to and from campus! Join University representatives as we share information and resources critical to your success as a commuter student. Learn tips on balancing your campus and home life, and how to be an active and engaged student in the EMU community.
11 a.m. – 1 p.m. First Four Family Picnic – University Park
Relax and enjoy lunch with other new members of the EMU family. A variety of delicious sandwiches, sides, and drinks will be available inside Bowen Field House for you to enjoy in University Park.
1 – 2 p.m. Bus to Convocation Center
Shuttle buses will run between Main Campus and the Convocation Center. The shuttles will pick up students in the Student Center Circle Drive (west side of the building) starting at 1 p.m. Please plan to depart from the Student Center by 1:30 p.m. so you arrive on time for the Convocation Ceremony!
PARENTS AND FAMILY MEMBERS
Please drive separately from your student to the Convocation Center, which is located at 799 W. Hewitt Rd, Ypsilanti, MI 48197. Please plan to arrive no later than 1:45 p.m. in order to be seated for the Convocation Ceremony.
2 – 3 p.m. Convocation Ceremony – EMU Convocation Center
Your official induction into the EMU family! The Convocation Ceremony is a time-honored tradition at EMU filled with history, pride, and EMU school spirit. You and your new classmates will be welcomed by Dr. James M. Smith, President of EMU, as well as the Student Body President and other distinguished members of the EMU community.
3 – 3:45 p.m. Parent and Family Reception – Rynearson Stadium
Following the Convocation Ceremony, parents and family members are invited to the Parent and Family Reception where you can write a letter to your student to be delivered later in the fall semester, and learn more about our Parent and Family Programs at EMU!
3 – 4:30 p.m. Student Small Group Time – Rynearson Stadium
Meet your New Student Orientation Assistants (NSOAs) and the other new students who make up your small group for First Four. Each group is comprised of both residential and commuter students.
4:30 – 5:30 p.m. Student Dinner – Rynearson Stadium
Spend some time enjoying a meal and getting to know your First Four small group members.
6 p.m. EMU vs. Mississippi Valley State Football Game – Rynearson Stadium
STUDENTS: Following dinner students will attend their first EMU football game as students with their First Four small group.
PARENTS & FAMILIES: Remember to bring your “Proud Member of the EMU Family” button that you received at check-in as it will be your admission to the football game!
7:30 - 10 p.m. Buses back to campus available - Rynearson Stadium Main Entrance/Circle Drive
9 p.m. Eagle’s Journey - University Park
Following the end of the football game, participate in a special tradition for all new Eagles!
9:30 p.m. Commuter Students Depart
Following the game, commuter students will depart from campus.
9:30 p.m. Residence Hall Floor Meetings
Residential students return to their halls for their first floor meetings with their Resident Advisors.
