Many of our philosophy majors participate in the Honors College (www.emich.edu/honors). Every Honors major is required to write an undergraduate honors thesis with a faculty thesis advisor. Recent theses have featured topics such as Kierkegaard, Schopenhauer, feminist critiques of Aristotle, a translation and philosophical interpretation of Sunzi’s Art of War and a unique philosophical screenplay.

Every year, philosophy students participate in the annual Undergraduate Symposium, which features nominated student papers that exemplify intellectual excellence. The 2010 Undergraduate Symposium's keynote speaker was David Coverly,1987 alumni and world-renowned cartoonist.
