Aurora over Sherzer

Since 1903 Sherzer Observatory has provided students and staff of Eastern Michigan University, and many visitors from southeastern Michigan and beyond, a site from which splendors of the universe can be discovered. Fine views of the sun, moon, planets, and stars, as well as the occasional bright comet or cosmic event can be enjoyed for no more than the effort of a trip up to the "O" during one of our regularly scheduled open houses or special observing events.

Please consider becoming a friend of the observatory by donating towards its worthy purpose. Your tax-deductable contributions to Sherzer Observatory are certainly welcome and are greatly appreciated! They help us improve our facility so that we can better serve the students of Eastern Michigan University and visitors such as yourself. The "Sherzer Observatory Fund" has been established to provide funds to purchase up-to-date and innovative equipment, and to make improvements to the facility itself. Current projects in need of support include the Planetarium Endowment.

The new "Planisphere" facility is an exciting, architectually stunning, and highly technical space currently under construction between Mark Jefferson and Strong Halls. It needs YOUR kind and generous support to help students and visitors enjoy astronomy 21st century-style. Representatives from the EMU Foundation will be happy to assist you.

For information on the benefits of and regulations governing donations please contact Department Head, Dr. James Carroll, or the EMU Foundation at (734) 484-3237 or donate through the EMU Foundation's website.
