EMU Energy Idol is a yearly contest to determine the "greenest" student at Eastern Michigan University. Students submit entries describing how they are sustainable and energy efficient both on and off campus. Once the entry submission deadline is closed, the voting begins. Voting continues until the last entrant is left, making them the winner.
The contest is open to all Eastern Michigan University students. The following entry types will be accepted:
-Online video no longer than 1 minute 30 seconds.
-An original song.
-An essay no longer than 500 words.
-A picture of a sculpture, painting, drawing, or other artistic medium.
-Other entries as approved by the Energy and Sustainability Manager.
All entries must not contain profanity, must not use copyrighted works without the copyright owner's permission, and must be the submitter's own original work. Any violation of these rules will eliminate that entry from the competition. One entry per student is allowed during the entry phase of the contest, with additional entries permissible as the contest progresses.
All acceptable submitted entries will be posted on a website to allow students to vote on the entries. The top 12 entries will move to the second round, with 2 entries eliminated each subsequent round. The amount of time allowed for each round and for voting will be determined by the Energy and Sustainability Manager.
