Biography:
Dr. Byrd completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2004. Her primary mentor at UNR was Dr. William O'Donohue. She currently holds a doctoral limited license to practice psychology in the state of Michigan. Dr. Byrd's research interests include the integration of behavioral and medical care in primary healthcare settings, particularly in the area of pediatrics, and the incorporation of acceptance based strategies in the treatment of medically ill populations. With her students, Dr. Byrd currently has projects examining the psychological correlates of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis and infertility. Dr. Byrd is the author of several journal articles and book chapters. Most recently, she co-edited a volume entitled Behavioral Integrative Care: Treatments That Work in the Primary Care Setting published in 2005. Dr. Byrd teaches two courses at the undergraduate level, General Psychology (PSY 101) and Self Analysis and Control (PSY 203). At the graduate level, she teaches Child and Family Therapy, Clinical Organizational Mangement, and two practicum courses. In addition, Dr. Byrd is actively involved in providing clinical supervision to both MS and Ph.D. students at the EMU Psychology Clinic.
