| Biography:
|
|
Dr. Penix completed her PhD in clinical psychology with an emphasis in forensic psychology in 2002. She worked as an assistant professor of clinical psychology at Central Michigan University 2001-2006. She moved to Eastern Michigan University in 2006. Dr. Penix is very engaged in undergraduate and graduate education, research and clinical supervision and practice. She has published articles, chapters, and a workbook in the areas of behavioral assessment and treatment, sexual deviance, treatment development for sexual self-control problems and multicultural considerations in clinical practice. Her research interests include treatment development for improved sexual self-control, the functions of sexual behaviors, emotion and cognitive regulation problems in sexual offending and other excess behaviors, and modern behavior therapies including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness Meditation. Dr. Penix teaches Behavioral Assessment, Psychological Perspectives on Prejudice and Discrimination and Assessment and Treatment of Diverse Clinical Populations. She also supervises doctoral fellows in behavioral assessment and psychotherapy. |
