The following criteria are used in appointing graduate assistants:
   (The University Admissions Standards must be met first.)

1. A baccalaureate degree from a regionally acredited college or university, or recognized institution of higher education in a foreign country.
2. Full or conditional admission to the departments degree program. Applicants with non-degree admission status are not eligible.
3. An undergraduate grade point average which is equal to the g.p.a. of all students admitted to the college's degree programs.
4. Interviews are used frequently to screen candidates for assistantships.
5. Departments may also require letters of recommendation. These can be obtained from faculty members or from former employers.
