The Department of Chemistry
@ Eastern Michigan University
As a graduate assistant, you are entitled to a tuition award which covers
the registration fee, student government fee, and health service fee. For
full-time graduate assistants appointed to Fall and Winter terms, a total
of eighteen (18) hours of tuition will be covered by tuition scholarship
(~9 hours/term). Three-quarter appointments for Fall and Winter terms will
receive a total of fourteen (14) hours of tuition coverage. Half-time appointments
will receive nine (9) hours of tuition coverage for the year.
Tuition Scholarship/Financial Aid Procedure:
Students appointed as graduate assistants will have their tuition automatically
paid for, according to the number of tuition hours to which the student
is entitled, depending upon the terms of G.A. appointment. For example,
if the G.A. is appointed for Fall term, full-time, the graduate deans office
staff will automatically credit the student account for up to nine (9)
hours of tuition. If the student does a drop/add once the semester is underway,
the graduate dean's office must be notified so that adjustments can be
made.
Note: If a graduate assistant does not want the graduate school to cover all
hours in one term, in order to save hours for a subsequent term, the graduate
school must be notified of this intent.
