Leading Edge Program: Project Management

"A badly planned project will take three times longer than expected - a well planned project only twice as long as expected." Author unknown

Most organizations today are very focused on meeting and exceeding customer expectations through successfully completing projects – on time, within budgets and meeting all quality requirements. Projects are an integral part of any organization that have significant impact on the resources and the bottom line and managing them well requires a specific set of tools, knowledge, skills and techniques.

"Anything that can be changed will be changed until there is no time left to change anything." I know that you believe that you understand what you think I said but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant. Project manager - unknown

Project Management has become one of the most critical skill sets for anyone managing projects and within an organization. The PEC offers a variety of formats and content levels of project management training programs. We build each class around the body of knowledge for project managers of the Project management Institute (PMI). Our programs range from an intense 18 days certificate program that prepares participants for the PMP exam to one or two day classes that teach the basics of project management. The length of the program, level of skill building and the applicability of the training to the participant’s jobs will be determined in an upfront assessment that will drive the development of the program.

The PEC will work with you and your organization to determine the level of need and skill building and develop the appropriate classes. All of our programs provide hands on practice of the tools and work on a real life project that participants bring to the workshops. This ensures the training is relevant and immediately applied for reinforced and sustainable learning.

If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there.

Our workshops will focus on managing projects and the tasks involved including:

  • How to manage people and projects
  • How to set up timelines and realistic goals for projects
  • How to use tools for scheduling e.g., PERT, Gantt, etc, and .develop a project plan
  • How to identify contingency plans and risks
  • How to monitor projects and create project reports

Contact the PEC to discuss your project management training needs today! Don’t let another project fall behind schedule, run over costs or fail to meet the needs of the stakeholders!

If you fail to plan you are planning to fail.
