The
Nuts and Bolts of Managing
Who Should Attend?
Managers who have increasing responsibility that is
team-oriented and that requires effective time management. Managers who
spend a large amount of time in meetings about project-oriented work
and in the coordination of others' work.
Program Format and Content
This 3-day workshop will focus on developing the skills
that make managers effective and efficient:
- Time management,
- Prioritizing of tasks,
- Project management,
- Delegation,
- Decision making
- Running effective meetings, and
- Working with teams.
Participants will be involved in small group discussion,
applied exercises, and role plays. Participants will leave the seminar
with materials to help with their ongoing development and to apply course
concepts, such as example meeting agendas and worksheets for task delegation
and prioritization.
Day 1 Personal
management issues:
- How do effective managers prioritize and allocate time so that stakeholders
are satisfied and tasks are accomplished?
- How should I decide what work to delegate? What is the method for
developing employees through task delegation?'
Day 2 Managing
teams and projects:
- What are the special issues that arise in teamwork due to team dynamics
and individual differences?
- What is the role of conflict in team projects?
- What steps are necessary for successful project management, and how
do I deal with issues such as risk and uncertainty?
Day 3 Managing
group processes:
- How can we use meeting time more effectively?
- What defines an effective decision? When should a group be used for
decision making, and when should I make the decision myself?
