Who Should Attend?

Team leaders, technical experts moving to leadership positions, and mid-level managers seeking to manage their own careers while learning skills for managing others.

Program Format and Content

This one-day workshop focuses on two aspects of performance management: managing oneself and managing others. Participants learn techniques such as goal setting, behavioral reinforcement, and time management and apply them to both their own career goals and the effective motivation of others.

Participants are encouraged to develop self-management skills through the exploration of:

  • Personal competencies,
  • Career aspirations and personal goal setting plans, and
  • Leadership style analyses.

Participants learn effective techniques to manage others, including:

  • Effectively appraising performance,
  • Challenging and retaining the high performing employee,
  • Motivating and directing effort of the low performing employee, and
  • Linking employees' personal goals with organizational goals for win-win performance.

One-Day (8 Hour) Workshop

The one-day workshop is divided equally between two topics: self-management and the management of others.

Several learning techniques are used, including role plays, self-assessments, small group discussions and video.
