Terry Heck Seibert is
a professional actor, director and teacher of acting. She
belongs to both Actor’s Equity Association, the American
Federation of Television and Radio Artists and Screen Actors
Guild. Terry has been seen off-Broadway in Howard Korder’s Episode
26 at the Lambs Theatre and her professional regional credits
include roles at The Alley Theatre in Houston, Cincinnati Playhouse
and Actors Theatre of St. Paul where she was a resident company
member for five years, acting in plays ranging from Stoppard
to Shakespeare to Chekhov.
For the past several years,
Terry has worked extensively in professional theatre in Southeastern
Michigan. She has been seen at Meadow Brook Theatre in The
Mousetrap, A Christmas Carol and received an Outstanding
Achievement in Performance Award from Michigan Allied Professional
Theatres Association and the Oakland Press for her portrayal
of Aunt Bella in Meadow Brook’s production of Neil Simon’s Lost
In Yonkers.
Terry is a resident artist with
the Purple Rose Theatre Company where she has been seen
in Labor Day (premiere), Two Sisters (premiere), Blush
At Nothing (premiere) and More Fun Than Bowling , Born
Yesterday, Blithe Spirit, Good Doctor (Free
Press nomination) and Jeff Daniel’s Norma and Wanda (Premiere
Detroit Free Press nomination and Wilde Award nomination). She
also directed the Purple Rose’s regional premiere of Joan
Ackermann’s Off The Map to critical acclaim. Terry
has performed with the Jewish Ensemble Theatre and Performance
Network in their Professional Artist Series in Steven Dietz’s Private
Eyes (Detroit Free Press nomination) and Joe Zettlemaier’s Language
Lessons ( Detroit Free Press and wilde award nominations). In
2003 she received the Theatre Excellence Award in Eve Ensler’s Necessary
Targets as Bosnian war refugee, Zlata, also to critical
acclaim. She can also be seen in Purple Rose Film’s
recent release of Super Sucker as Nicole, directed
and starring Jeff Daniels.
Terry and Gillian
Eaton (former Royal Shakespeare Company member) created
a theatre company called SHAKESPERIENCE. SHAKESPEARIENCE
productions include Twelth Night and Comedy
of Errors. Terry performed the role of Viola in Twelth
Night and received a Theatre Excellence nomination for her
portrayal of Adrianna in Comedy of Errors. Under Gillian’s direction, Terry
performed the role of Suzie in the Boulevard Comedie, DON’T
DRESS FOR DINNER at Center Repertory Theatre in Walnut
Creek, CA for which she received The Dean Goodman Award for Acting
Excellence in the San Francisco area. This spring, Terry
will appear with Gillian in a premiere production of Lear playing
the Fool at Performance Network.
Currently, Terry serves as full
professor in Communication and Theatre Arts at Eastern Michigan
University where her teaching credits include Fundamentals
of Acting, Characterization, Audition, Acting for the Camera,
Acting Styles and Acting Shakespeare. She has also taught
acting for the Purple Rose and has conducted many acting workshops
throughout the area. Directing credits at Eastern Michigan
include Prelude To A Kiss, Agnes of God, Boy’s Life,
Ladies of Lanford, and The Good Doctor, and The
Glass Menagerie and Brighton Beach Memoirs. Terry
and her husband, fellow actor-director John Seibert, are committed
to furthering appreciation of the cultural arts, specifically
theatre arts in Southeastern Michigan.
