Patricia Moore Zimmer received a B.F.A. in Drama form the University
of Evansville and an M.F.A. in Directing from Florida State University.
She also studied theatre at the University of New Orleans. Since
coming to EMU's Drama/theatre for the Young Program in 1980,
Professor Zimmer has directed numerous EMU Mainstage and Theatre
of the Young touring producitons for young and intergenerational
audiences. She is a recipient of EMU's Josephine Nevins Keal
Award. Some of her professional interestes in recent years have
included fostering professional development for directors, religion
and the arts, and new play development. In 1998-99, she collaborated
with the Ypsilanti Head Start Program to tour a new play to preschool
and elementary audiences in southeastern Michigan. She has served
as a reader/adjudicator for two national playwriting competitions,
including the Bonderman/IUPUI National Youth Theatre Distinguished
Play Symposium and hte American Alliance for Theatre and Education's
Distinguished Play Award. She also recently edited Stage of the
Art, a major publication of AATE.
