Carol Schlagheck
is a professor of journalism, and has more than 20
years of journalism experience. She was a founder of a community weekly,
which she edited for two years. She then worked at the Monroe (Mich.) Evening
News as a reporter, feature editor and copy editor for more than 10 years,
and continues to work as a freelance writer for newspapers and magazines.
Professor Schlagheck's work has received numerous awards from the Michigan Press Assocation and Michigan Associated Press, as well as several awards of merit from assocations like the Women in Communications, Inc.
Within the university, Professor Schlagheck is actively involved. She is coordinator of the Journalism Program, and a member of the Writing Committee. She serves on the university's Student Media Board, which oversees the Eastern Echo, which is the EMU student newspaper.
