Alumni Testimony
“Many other programs do not have the support and involvement of
professionals throughout the community/metro areas. EMU's faculty has
strong ties with area public relations/communication professionals, covering all
facets of the field. There are three things that, looking back, I most enjoyed about my
education at EMU in the PR program:
1. The opportunities it gave me to become
more involved in the field through PRSSA and other activities.
2.The people I met who
taught me not only about PR but also about myself - they are friends and colleagues who I call on still.
3.The professors who offered an ear while
I was a student and continue to be my champions as I advance in my career.”

“Eastern's PR program provides a realistic approach to the day-to-day
tasks of the professional by its detail oriented and interdisciplinary
nature. It also encourages professionalism and critical decision making
skills that are pertinent in the field. The aforementioned coupled with
the dedication of the professors makes Eastern’s PR program
impeccable.
The academic service learning component provides students with at least
two "in the fire" experiences that are valuable knowledge and resume
builders. Working with real clients with real issues is the best
preparation for future client work."
- Markeisha McCall, Fleishman-Hillard, 2004 graduate
“EMU's interdisciplinary PR program was able to provide me with the tools and frame of reference needed to be successful outside of the classroom setting. From journalism and desktop publishing to public speaking and case study analysis, I was able to put my classroom knowledge to work in the field immediately. The well-rounded curriculum is essential to any student's future success, and the instruction by seasoned PR professionals takes the experience to levels not typically found in the college classroom.”
