Assignment 1:
Internet Preservation Search

EMU students now have access to Internet. Even people who are uncomfortable using computers should have little difficulty using Netscape or Internet Explorer, the programs to use Internet, since all you have to do to get information is click buttons.

Your first assignment is to use Internet as a way to access some information on historic preservation. By putting in the words "historic preservation" or "preservation" or "Preserve/Net" you should be able to uncover some links. Keep exploring, or "surfing," the Net until you collect the information listed.

Using Netscape or Internet Explorer, obtain one printed page for each of the the following pieces of information:

  1. A copy of the EMU Historic Preservation Home Page.
  2. Information on a college that has a preservation program (not EMU).
  3. Information on an upcoming preservation conference.
  4. Information on a building product used in historic preservation.
  5. A preservation discussion conference (a "list-serv" or chat program)
Submit the Internet addresses (URLs) for the five pages via Email by the due date. That is all there is to it; your assignment is completed when you have Emailed the URLs to me. If you have difficulty, ask for help by explaining in detail what you have tried to do.
