Welcome to the Main Page for the
Albion Downtown Revitalization web site.

Brought to you by Eastern Michigan University's
Department of Geography and Geology and its
Urban and Regional Planning Program

This web site is divided into two sections, each with links on every web page.

The first section, shown below on the left side, is made up of links to general information about downtowns. It includes information on the current status of downtowns, various strategies for revitalization, and reviews of how successful those strategies have been.
These links are designated with the red-brown click boxes.

The second section, on the right, links to the Albion, Michigan "WebPolis" exercise. The Albion WebPolis site was created as an interactive exercise to allow ready application of material presented in the first section.
The Albion WebPolis links are designated with darker brown boxes.

Like a good novel, the pages at this web site tell the story of downtown revitalization.

The first links present the background of this story:

Downtowns: Their Background Albion: Its Background

Other links present the roles in the story of downtown:

Downtown Organizations People in Albion

Another grouping of web pages presents the story's conflict:

Problems in Downtowns Issues in Albion

Finally, a section describes the resolution of the story of downtown revitalization:

Revitalization Strategies Albion Strategies

These boxes will be shown on most web pages and provide links to each section's main page.

On each page you will also find "Suggested other pages..." shown with yellow lettering.
These are links you might be interested in at that time.

You may also see a listing of all the web pages or a listing of external links.

A series of case studies of downtown projects
in cities across the U.S. has been prepared by students
in EMU's Downtown Revitalization course.

The dark green boxes, always shown at the bottom of the page, represent links to people who can give further help. The link to the WebAuthor, Norm Tyler, who is available to respond to any inquiries, is found on every page.
