Faculty Workshops
WebCT workshops for faculty are scheduled throughout the year. It is advisable to attend the Introduction to WebCT workshop the semester prior to your going "live" with your WebCT class. That way you will have plenty of time to design your class template and put your course material online. WebCT Training & Support offers training and workshops in the following formats:
- Small group workshop sessions
- Personalized one-to-one training
- Individual consulting services
If you have questions about WebCT at EMU or would like to schedule a consultation with one of the instructional technologists, please feel free to contact Academic Technology and Computing Services (ATCS) at 487-2679.
Workshop Descriptions
Teaching at EMU: Introduction to WebCT
This workshop is part of the Teaching at EMU series offered by the Faculty Development Center. In these sessions, participants will roll up their sleeves and experience the WebCT interface with online lectures, assignments and quizzes, just like the students do. Then participants will use the basic course creation and management tools to learn how to organize a course, add content, and provide online grades for assignments, discussions and quizzes.
The Teaching at EMU workshop series is offered by the Bruce K. Nelson Faculty Development Center. Click here to find out more about the series.
The WebCT Assignments Tool
This workshop covers the skills and knowledge needed for WebCT course instructor-designers to create instructionally sound online assignments. Participants should bring copies of assignments they typically use in their classes and corresponding handouts. This workshop is open to faculty who are using WebCT or have attended the Introduction to WebCT workshop.
The WebCT Grade Book
This workshop covers features in the WebCT’s Grade Book for faculty who have completed the Introduction to WebCT Vista Workshop. Material covered includes managing student roster, adding columns, controlling columns, entering grades, creating learning groups and importing and exporting data. An active WebCT section is not necessary to participate in the workshop. This workshop is for faculty who have been using WebCT or have attended the Introduction to WebCT workshop.
Please contact Instructional Technologists Diane Lawrence or John Bruenger for more information. Small group training is available, as well as one-to-one personalized training sessions and consulting.
