MEMBERSHIP
LOEX membership operates on a calendar year basis. The membership rate for 2008 is currently at the
amazingly low price of $80.00! Invoicing for a new membership year begins in December of the preceding year. Members will be notified of any change in the membership
rate in their invoice or by their subscription service agent.
All librarians and staff affiliated with a LOEX member
library are invited to join the LOEX E-List in order to receive
LOEX_Currents, our monthly current awareness e-newsletter and
the PDF version of our regular publication, LOEX Quarterly.
If you are not sure your library is a LOEX member,
please e-mail us for verification.
If your library is a member, we will add you to the LOEX e-distribution list for
receipt of Currents and the Quarterly. Our substantive publication is published 4 times per year. It includes practical articles on library instruction and information literacy as well as reports on instruction and information literacy initiatives around the world. The Quarterly also features its regular columns: "News from the LOEX Office", "Featured Web Site", "Tech Matters", and "Ross·Rave." Individuals at member libraries may receive the electronic version of the Quarterly by request. Our monthly current awareness service (published September through May) is available upon request to individuals at member libraries. It includes news bites, announcements and other time-sensitive information such as job postings, of interest to those engaged in instruction and information literacy efforts. LOEX sponsors a national conference each spring. LOEX conferences are often hosted by member libraries throughout the United States. These conferences which focus on practical applications in instruction and information literacy, give attendees opportunities to meet colleagues, learn about successful programs and regain their momentum. Librarians at member institutions are given priority registration for LOEX conferences, which typically fill quickly. LOEX Web Site
The LOEX Web site was redesigned in 2004 to better reflect its content and focus.
Access to the LOEX site is without charge and is a service to
the library instruction and information literacy community
providing links to relevant resources in the field and serving as a marketing tool for membership in LOEX.LOEX maintains an historical collection of library instruction materials. These include flyers, syllabi, videos, tutorials, handbooks, and similar materials. Although this print/media collection is now closed in terms of new acquisitions, librarians at member institutions may request materials. LOEX is currently seeking grant funding to convert the materials into an accessible historical archive of library instruction resources as well as to preserve the history of the clearinghouse. |
