How to synchronize your MyEmich Portal with your PDA

What program should I use?
Sun Microsystems provides the Sun One Synchronization Tool for synchronizing a PDA to MyEmich. It is available to all MyEmich users, free of charge.

How do I get a copy of the Sun One Synchronization Tool?
You may obtain a copy of the Sun One Synchronization Tool from the ICT Help Desk, located on the First Level of the Bruce T. Halle Library. The Help Desk will provide you a CD containing the program, in exchange for a new unopened CD-R disk. Before requesting a copy of the program, please ensure that your disk is new and still wrapped in its original plastic packing and jewel case. Any questions regarding the exchange process please call the ICT Help Desk at 487.2120.

Is this program compatible with my PDA?
The Sun One Synchronization Tool is compatible with the following operating systems:

Windows CE devices require Microsoft Active Sync. Version 3.1
Palm devices require HotSync Manager. Versions 3.1.1 and 4.0.2

How do I configure the synchronization settings?
After you have installed the Sun One Synchronization application you will need to configure the application to synchronize with the MyEmich server.

Instructions:

  1. Locate the Sun One Synchronization menu item in your Start Menu; single-click on it to reveal more menu options.
  2. Open the Synchronization program by double-clicking on the item that begins with "Synchronize with…".
  3. In the program window, single-click on the Sun One Icon, then click on the popup button labeled "Configure".

  4. A new window will open titled "SUN One Translator Settings". Use the information provided in the sample below to configure your settings window:

  5. When you have entered all of the information provided above, click the button labeled "OK".
  6. You can now attach your PDA device to your computer and perform a sync operation.
