The mission of the Records Section is to develop, maintain and enhance a comprehensive information system whereby pertinent Departmental records are secure, well-organized and readily accessible to Departmental employees, University officials, members of other criminal justice agencies, and the general public.
Police Report Request
For information on how to obtain a copy of a police report contact the Records Section by telephone at 734.487.0892 or at our location on 1200 Oakwood St., Ypsilanti MI 48197.
The Police Records Department processes and maintains all police reports including:
- arrests
- accidents
- offense / incident reports
- case files
Hours
8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Monday - Friday (except approved university holidays and spring break)
Responsibilities
The records are maintained by the Records Clerk, whose primary duties are data entry and filing of incoming police reports. Other responsibilities include:
- develop Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) monthly for the Department of Public Safety
- respond to all open records requests.
- maintain accident reports
- Clery compliance
Accident Reports
You may request a copy of your accident report by stopping by the Department of Public Safety during normal business hours. You must have a picture ID. The cost is $10.00 (cash or check).
