A
Message from the Board of Regents:
Regarding the June 19, 2007 meeting
The Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents will meet for its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, June 19.
We
will not be prepared to consider, take
or announce any significant personnel
actions at that time. The Board must be
fully informed not only by the Butzel
Long investigation which was completed
June 8, but also by findings and directives
expected in a report by the U.S. Department
of Education, which has not yet been delivered.
We will, however, on Tuesday, set in motion
a process for undertaking personnel and
other matters soon after it arrives.
As
promised, we began our deliberations
immediately after the release of the report
June 8. That process continues while we
await the findings from the Department
of Education.
After
receiving the Department of Education
report, we will schedule a special session
of the Board to consider and make decisions
regarding university personnel involved
in EMU’s handling of the information relating to the tragic death of Laura Dickinson.
Consistent
with our position in this matter from
the onset of the investigation, we will
not discuss these sensitive topics in
the media until we are ready to take action,
but we will be fully prepared to inform
the public and the media when we have
news to report.
