UNDERGRADUATE DEGREE APPLICATION

PLEASE RETAIN FOR YOUR RECORDS

1.) The attached application is to be used by applicants for a Bachelor's Degree. It may be used for Bachelor's Degrees
     and Provisional Teaching Certificates, if qualifying for both at the same time.
     a. Applicants for Master's or Specialist's Degrees should complete the form which appears in the schedule book, or
         request the appropriate form at the Records and Registration service counter, 303 Pierce Hall.
     b. Applicants for any kind of teaching certificate other than as outlined above should request the appropriate form
         from the Student Teaching Office in 206 Porter.

2.) A graduation fee of $90.00 is required. This is a one-time non-refundable fee. Please take or send the graduation
     application form to the Cashier's Office, 201 Pierce Hall, together with your check/money order for $90.00. The
     Cashier's Office will validate the payment of the fee and return the application to the Records and Registration Office.

3.) The application for graduation is due in the Records and Registration Office AT THE BEGINNING OF THE
     SEMESTER in which the student expects to complete ALL REQUIREMENTS for the degree and/or teaching
      certificate.

4.) Processing of applications begins after the deadline published in the schedule book. You will be notified if it appears
     that you cannot qualify for graduation even upon satisfactory completion of the courses in which you are currently
     enrolled. Candidates for all graduation periods will receive verification of graduation/certification as soon as possible
    after the close of the session. VERIFICATION LETTERS AND DIPLOMAS WILL BE MAILED TO THE
     DIPLOMA MAILING ADDRESS ON THE GRADUATION APPLICATION UNLESS GRADUATION
     AUDIT IS NOTIFIED OTHERWISE BY YOU.

5.) PLEASE NOTE: If you are unable to complete your requirements for graduation by the close of the semester in
     which you have applied to graduate, and you must postpone your graduation until a later semester, YOU MUST
     COMPLETE A NEW APPLICATION AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEMESTER IN WHICH YOU
     WILL FINISH.

6.) STUDENTS MUST BE AWARE OF THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS:
     a. GRADE POINT AVERAGES: The student must attain a GPA of 2.00 or above for
               (1) courses taken at EMU
               (2) courses counting in major
               (3) courses counting in minor
     b. Documentation: YOU HAVE NOT MET GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS UNTIL all transcripts,
     substitution forms, waiver forms, change of grade forms, etc. (including the attached graduation application) have
     been received by Graduation Audit.
     c. Financial Obligations: Diplomas will not be released if you have any PAST DUE FINANCIAL
     OBLIGATIONS. This includes exit interviews for some loan recipients, library, parking, tuition, housing charges,
     etc.
     FOR PROMPT SERVICE: Upon settling your financial obligations, YOU MUST SEND APPROPRIATE
     CLEARANCE OR RECEIPTS TO GRADUATION AUDIT. There may be a lengthy delay if you wait for the
      information to reach us from other sources.

    7.) IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING POST-DEGREE CONTINUING ENROLLMENT
         If you intend to enroll in courses at Eastern Michigan University after you successfully complete your undergraduate
         or graduate program, you must apply for admission to a new masters, certification, or self-improvement program
         through the Office of Admissions 400 Pierce Hall. If you plan to pursue a second bachelor's degree, you must
          re-enroll through the Office of Records and Registration, 303 Pierce Hall.

         Upon final degree conferral, you will be unable to continue to register unless you have applied to another program or
         for self-improvement status.
