  • Desk Assistant Expand dropdown
    The desk assistant  works in the front lobby and desk area of a designated residential community and provides service and safety to residents, their guests and visitors to the University community.
  • Resident Advisor Expand dropdown
    The resident advisor works to foster and maintain a positive sense of community among residents, assesses and responds to the needs of residents on a continual basis, enforces policies and performs administrative tasks.
  • The Programming Resource Center Coordinator Expand dropdown
    The Programming Resource Center Coordinator supports programs for residents by hosting professional or personal development programs, compiling ideas and resources for staff to use for bulletin boards, door decorating and programming.
  • Office Manager Expand dropdown
    The office manager creates and maintains professional front desk operations in the residence halls. Office managers train and supervise office assistants, and oversee the daily operations of their residence hall/community’s front desk.

  • Graduate Hall Director Expand dropdown
    Eastern Michigan University graduate hall directors (GHD) are part-time, live-in professionals responsible for assisting the complex director. GHDs are primarily responsible for supervising a staff of five to 10 resident advisors, including training, hiring and developing the paraprofessional staff. A bachelor’s degree is required for this position. 
  • Graduate Assistants Expand dropdown
    Eastern Michigan University graduate assistants (GA) are part-time live-in professionals responsible for assisting our assistant directors in different specialty roles. A bachelor’s degree is required for this position.

  • Complex Director Expand dropdown
    EMU  Complex Directors (CD) are full-time, live-in professionals with a 12-month contract. They supervise two to three graduate hall directors (GHD), office managers (OM), and indirectly supervise resident advisors. Residence halls are all co-ed and range from 250 to 400 students. Campus apartment complexes range from 100 to 215 residents. A master's degree in higher education or related field is required.
  • Area Directors Expand dropdown
    Area Directors (AD) are full-time, live-off professionals with a 12-month contract. The two positions supervise three to four full-time, masters-level complex directors. Additional responsibilities include working with summer camps and conferences, summer school, and departmental projects and committees. A master's degree in higher education and three years supervising staff in Housing and Residence Life is required.
