Eastern Michigan University

Comparable State University Safety Statistics

Crime is an unfortunate fact of life. And in places where large numbers of people live and congregate, crime levels will inevitably be higher. Below are U.S. Department of Education crime statistics (as reported by each institution) for several Midwestern universities operating in a similar urban environment to EMU.

What is quickly apparent is that with the exception of a lone homicide in 2006--the only such occurrence on campus in the University’s 159-year history--there is nothing out of the ordinary about the level of crime at Eastern Michigan University.

Universities are listed in alphabetical order.
