Dr. Jay Weinstein
Professor of Sociology
Short Biography: Born and reared in Chicago, Dr. Wenstein has a BA and Ph.D. from the University of Illinois-Urbana and an MA from Washingtn University-St. Louis, all in sociology. Prior to coming to EMU he served on the faculties of the Georgia Institute of Technology and the University of Iowa. He is married to Marilyn Weinstein and has two children, Bennett and Liza, both of whom are married. He has traveled extensively, including three one-year assignments in India. Since the early 1990s, he has worked in the former Communist countries of Central and Eastern Europe. He and his wife have recently acquired a second home on St. Simons Island, Georgia, where they vacation and plan to retire.

Demographic Transition, Social Change, Altruism, Urban Sociology. Also considerable experience as Journal editor. Current Editor-in-Chief of Applied Social Science.
